A former Club Exhibition Layout
|
 This
is one of a number of Somerset & Dorset based exhibition layouts to be
constructed. It is based somewhere on the main line between Evercreech Junction
and Bournemouth. The layout was exhibited a number of times with the era set
around 1930 as the article in July 1996 edition of British Railway Modelling
showed. Around 1999 the layout was extensively rebuilt.
This has included enlarging the fiddle yard and altering the station area to add
both extra sidings and a dairy complex. Following these alterations the era has
now been moved to sometime between 1950 and 1955. The pictures in the
article on the layout in the December 2000 edition of Railway Modeller reflect
these changes.

Layout size : 18ft x 6½ft – The layout is operated
from the central well and has scenery on three of the four sides
|
|
Magazine Features : The layout was featured in the July 1996 edition of British
Railway Modelling and the December 2000 edition of Railway Modeller.
|
|
This layout was sold in June 2006 to the proprietor
of Castle Trains in Warwick.
They are using it in their shop as part of a display of model layouts to inspire
their customers.
