How Gorcott was constructed

Gorcott was constructed in just under twelve months between June 1994 and May 1995. The layout was very much designed as smaller version of our Arrowmouth layout that could attend one day shows. In the event the layout has attended very few one day shows. The original eight road fiddle yard was soon doubled and more recently totally rebuilt to create a layout that can operate more trains than Arrowmouth. The fiddle yard is also used on our Chilcompton and Dagnall End layouts. Many people ask at shows how the layout was made so the following selection of photographs may provide some of the answers.
