In 1919 the Midland Railway decided to build a one off locomotive for banking on the Lickey Incline. This 0-10-0 became known as Big Berta (after the large guns used in the First World War by the Germans). The locomotive remained in service until 19 May 1956 when it was withdrawn and scrapped by Derby Works in September 1957 | |
