| December 2003:
The month
started with a successful weekend at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition where we exhibited our
Chilcompton
layout.
The rest of the month has been spent on the improvement work on our Arrowmouth
layout ready for it's next outing to Cornwall in March 2004. |
|
| November 2003:
The month
started with the exhibiting of our
Chilcompton
layout at the Wolverhampton
show over the weekend of the 1st & 2nd November. We must have done something
right as the layout came 2nd in the Best Layout competition. The month ended
with a very enjoyable weekend between 28th to 30th
November at the Wakefield show with our Chilcompton
layout. |
|
| October 2003:
Significant
progress has been made this month on the work to improve the station area of our
Arrowmouth
layout.
The rock face at the rear of the station has been totally reshaped to allow an
extra siding to be installed to form a new parcel bay. Space has also been
made for a Camping Coach to be sited at the Station. |
|
| September 2003:
Work
continued on improving our Arrowmouth
layout. |
|
| August 2003:
Work has start
on improving our Arrowmouth
layout. This includes a total re-modeling of the
goods yard and station area. There will also be some major alterations to the scenery. |
|
| July 2003:
A number of Club
members were fortunate during this month to get the opportunity to operate a
Garden layout of a much larger scale than the normal 4mm or 7mm layouts they
are used to when they visit a private 71/4 inch railway where they were able
to drive a live steam scale model of former GWR 2-8-0 3822. This Club web site
is four years old this month. |
|
| June 2003:
Work is currently
continuing on our
Chilcompton
layout after which
we intend to return to making further improvements to our Arrowmouth
layout. Thanks to inspiration of George Nutter at our recent model railway
exhibition we are experimenting with the manufacture of our own scenic
materials. We spent a whole evening chopping carpet underlay up using a hand
operated food mincer and then grading the material before we colour it
different shades of green to make ground cover for our layouts - It is meant to
be all good fun!! The Club's Annual General Meeting once again provided
few surprises and the Committee where re-elected on block for a further
twelve months. |
|
| May 2003: The Redditch
Model Railway Club staged what proved to be the most successful Redditch
Model Railway Exhibition over the weekend of the 10th and 11th May 2003.
The improvements we have made to our Arrowmouth
layout must have been well received as a result of the show we have now got
three potential exhibition invitations for the layout. After the show Club
members have gone back to finishing Chilcompton ready for the exhibitions it
will attend in the autumn and working on our new London based layout. |
|
| April 2003: The
2003
Redditch Exhibition must be soon as we have now put the annual display
advertising the Exhibition in one of the display windows in Redditch Library.
Work this month at Club has centered around the preparation of our Arrowmouth
layout for the May Exhibition - This will be the
first time we will have exhibited the layout for over two and half years. |
|
| March 2003: Much of March
was spent preparing our Chilcompton for exhibition at the Keighley Model Railway
Exhibition - which proved to be very successful. Work now turns to preparing our
Arrowmouth Layout for our May Model Railway Exhibition. In preparation
for our May exhibition we have set up and tested our Arrowmouth
layout for the first time for two and half years - We were all amazed as it
worked first time and we have very little to repair or clean before May |
|
| February 2003: Work is nearly complete on
the remaining buildings and surrounding scenery on our Chilcompton
layout ready for it's next outing in to Keighley in March 2003 |
|
| January 2003: The review by month of
2002 in the local newspaper from Redditch, The Redditch Advertiser, featured the
2002 Redditch Model Railway Exhibition in the section on May - Either there was
nothing much happening in May 2002 or the Club is doing something right. |
