This page gives you Club News from 2001:

December 2001: Trains have yet to move on Chilcompton but we know the point motors work! However the scenic work is still progressing very well with all the buildings (which have all been scratch built) virtually finished.

November 2001: We are still waiting to see a train move on Chilcompton. However the scenic work is progressing very well. The Club is confident that we will meet the February deadline for Chilcompton's first public showing at the Biggleswade model railway exhibition.

October 2001: After a long wait our Chairman started to wire up our new Chilcompton layout and confidently reckoned it will be completed by the end of the month.

September 2001: The Club breaks new ground and travels the furthest east it has ever gone when our Gorcott layout is exhibited at the Ipswich Model Railway Show.

July 2001: There was a mad panic at Club on Tuesday 24th July when John Harris managed to set the fire alarm off with the smoke from his soldering iron in the club rooms. Fortunately we found out how to switch the system off and the fire brigade didn't have attend a false alarm!

June 2001: The Club's Annual General Meeting provided few surprises and the Committee where re-elected on block for a further twelve months.

May 2001: The Club staged the 22nd Redditch Model Railway Exhibition over the weekend of the 12th and 13th May. Despite the hot weather and the access problems in the town centre due to the major reconstruction works to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre the attendance remained the same as the previous year.

March 2001: After a number of months of uncertainty the Club is told that it can stay in it's current Club Rooms after a change in landlord

February 2001: A number of the Club members visited the BRM Doncaster Exhibition. The members hired a minibus to transport them to and from the show. The journey home was however longer than expected as the minibus broke down within 10 miles of Redditch! Track laying starts on the Chilcompton layout
